This past weekend, we witnessed the power of community in action as 100 fundraisers laced up their running shoes, grabbed their bikes, or took a leisurely stroll in the Medicann 5K, Your Way event, all in support of ABC Jersey.
For the second year running, our incredible partners at Medicann organised this event to mark World Cancer Day, bringing together patients, families, and friends to show solidarity, raise awareness, and fundraise for breast cancer support services on the island.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of everyone involved, £5,000 has been raised to help ABC Jersey continue providing vital support for Islanders affected by breast cancer.
Making a Real Difference
This year, funds raised will contribute towards the refurbishment of the mammography department at Jersey General Hospital, ensuring that patients receive care in a comfortable and supportive environment. The money will also help create a quiet room, offering a dedicated space for reflection and support.
Sarah Burns, ABC Jersey Ambassador, shared her gratitude:
“I’d like to say a huge thank you for everyone’s generosity and support in helping raise money for ABC Jersey. Everyone who took part in the Medicann 5K has helped to make a real difference, and ABC truly appreciates everyone’s kindness.”

Medicann CEO, Gary Whipp, and his team have once again shown their commitment to giving back to the local community. Speaking after the event, Gary shared:
“At Medicann, we have always been a patient-led business, and after being established for nearly six years, we are keen to do our bit for the community more than ever before. The Medicann 5K, Your Way now falls as part of our annual event programme, and we will be planning more fundraising events this year to help patients and local organisations that need vital funds.”
We are incredibly grateful to Medicann for organising this fantastic event and to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered on the runners. Your support makes a real impact, helping us to ensure that no Islander faces breast cancer alone.
