ABC Jersey is proud to announce that Lady Karen Kyd has accepted the role of Patron, strengthening the charity’s mission to support Islanders affected by breast cancer through awareness, wellbeing services and community-based care.
With more than 25 years’ experience as a General Practitioner, Lady Kyd brings a deep understanding of healthcare, patient support and community wellbeing. Her appointment reflects a shared commitment to improving early detection awareness and ensuring that Islanders facing breast cancer have access to the support they need throughout their journey.
Founded in 1998, ABC Jersey is a locally led charity dedicated to ensuring that every Islander affected by breast cancer can access the right help, at the right time. The organisation provides financial, practical and emotional support to individuals and families, helping to ease the challenges that can accompany diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Through its programmes, ABC Jersey assists Islanders with a wide range of needs, including travel and treatment-related costs, recovery support, household assistance, wellbeing initiatives, peer support groups, and awareness campaigns promoting early detection and regular self-checks.
Commenting on the appointment, ABC Jersey’s New Chair Gary Bellot said: “ABC Jersey is delighted to welcome Lady Kyd as our Patron. Her professional experience, compassion for community health and dedication to supporting charitable initiatives will help us raise greater awareness of breast cancer, strengthen our outreach and continue expanding the services we provide to Islanders.”

As Patron, Lady Kyd will support the charity’s mission by helping raise awareness of breast cancer prevention and early detection, engaging with community initiatives, and advocating for the continued development of services that ensure no Islander faces breast cancer alone.
For more than 25 years, ABC Jersey has supported thousands of Islanders through their breast cancer journey, building a strong community network dedicated to care, compassion and practical support – ensuring that together the Island remains “a brighter community” for everyone affected.
