My 2 Breast Friends

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my right breast which was picked up by a routine mammogram. Due to my family history with breast cancer I was advised to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction at the same time using my excess tummy tissue, (there’s always a silver lining when a tummy tuck can be had by making a new pair of breast friends 😂).

The message I would like to get across is how important mammograms are and to check yourself regularly. With my breast cancer journey I could not feel any lumps but looking visually at them you can see some puckering on my right breast . I do have photos just before the operation which I had to travel to East Grinstead for, I would be happy to share these with you to share awareness.

My biggest fear was not the mastectomy but the fear of having to have chemotherapy and lose my hair which unfortunately I did.

My godsend was having my nipples reconstructed by the wonderful Matthew Stephenson and tattoo of the areola by Kirsa Alberts which was funded by ABC which I am forever grateful for along with their aftercare and support.
